INTRODUCTION
Barnabas in the book of Acts was usually seen coming alongside someone. BBM seeks to be a ministry that comes alongside pastors, churches and people in order to enhance their ministry. There are several ways in which we can be of help.
Consultation ministries are not a simple series of "one size fits all" seminars or conferences. These ministries are designed to evaluate the church through several informational formats. After receiving the informational data a schedule is designed specifically for the individual church needs.
A conviction in the consultation ministry of BBM is that each church is uniquely gifted and enabled by God for specific ministries. The goal is to help the church discover the special ministries God has for the local church and to enable them to fulfill God's purpose in a balanced ministry.
DEVELOPING THE MISSION AND VISION OF THE LOCAL CHURCH
Several pastors have shared that they know they are gifted as a "pastor" in ministry to people and in teaching but struggle with enabling the church to aggressively move forward. This is not a weakness in the pastor but an honest recognition of the gifts God has given him by God's grace. Thus, they would desire to have someone help them develop a "Vision" and strategy for the future of the local church. The gifts God has given to some in BBM are those gifts that can come alongside these pastors to encourage and enable them to bring balance to the total ministry of the church.
Additionally it has become clear that an objective person from outside the particular ministry can often be used of God to see things less obvious to those in the church. God has gifted people both in the local and universal body for the "common good." A consultant with specific gifts can often be used to fit into needed areas.
IMPLEMENTING NEW MINISTRIES & STRENGTHENING EXISTING MINISTRIES
The executive director and other resource people associated with BBM have a significant number of years of experience and a diversity in ministry areas. This enables them to help churches in a variety of ministry areas to implement new ministries and to strengthening existing ministries. The specialized areas include establishing an evangelistic ministry, Christian school development, counseling ministries, missionary conferences and budgeting, financial development, worship service planning, children and youth ministries and a number of other areas.
HELPING HURTING CHURCHES
Many churches have gone through difficult and troubled times. BBM is not primarily a "conflict resolution" ministry. However, God has been using this ministry to help churches who have or are going through conflict or confusion. Often helping a church to understand their "Mission" and "Vision" involves helping them resolve some of the obstacles in the path of growth. A consulting ministry focusing on discovering "Mission" and "Vision" can enable the church to approach hurts or difficulties with a positive objective.
CHURCHES SEEKING A PASTOR
The transitional time between pastors can be a stagnant time or a time for developing a "Mission" and "Vision." Pastoral transition occurs as often as every three years. A reason for this is that sometimes churches do not have a clear mission or vision for the future. The result is the church looks for a pastor not knowing what is really needed or desired. Transitional times can be a good time for a church to clarify where it wants to go and to seek a pastor with gifts and vision that fit the church. A consulting relationship or a "Mission Workshop" can help the church to use the transition period in preparation for a more effective future pastoral
ministry.
